Aims and Objectives of the Consortium

1. To develop effective networking of Turkish educational associations in order to coordinate a collective response to the educational issues of concern for these communities.

2. To promote a positive image of the Turkish communities in conjunction with schools, other minority ethnic communities and the host community.

3. To strengthen the partnership in the Education provision in the respective Boroughs by building strong links with mainstream schools and the LEA and Education promoting associations.

4. To obtain Borough wide representations on working groups involved in developing policies and support for out of hours schools provision.

5. To represent the educational interest of the Turkish Community in the diverse ethnic minority boards in Local Governments.

6. To provide support for the work of the Turkish Language/ and culture schools projects

7. To ensure that in all its activities, the Consortium upholds and promotes Equality of Opportunity for everyone, by ensuring that equal access to all services are provided, in a manner that is sensitive to the individuals whatever their background. To ensure that no Consortium Member, employee or participant experiences discrimination on the grounds of race, ethnic or national origin, gender, sexuality, disability, health status, economic background, class or religious or other beliefs.
8. It is the responsibility of every member to uphold and implement equal opportunity.

9. To establish a forum of networking information exchange for developing partnership with relevant agencies such as LEA, and other relevant local authority agencies ALG, GLA, etc.

10. To promote an on going development of a common curriculum suitable for the children living in the U.K. (working along with LEA, TRNC and Turkey’s Education Ministries).

11. To promote research into the specific educational needs of Turkish speaking children, in particular into the under achievement of these children in the British Education system.

12. To encourage the development of common standards between the Turkish Language and culture schools.
